Claymation Videos!

Welcome to the end of Term 1.

As promised, here are just a few of the Year 6 completed Claymation Videos. The students have worked very hard on these throughout the term and they should be very proud of their efforts.

When inquiring into Claymation, the students discovered how long it takes to create an animation. Students were amazed to discover the creators of the movie ‘Chicken Run’ took 110,880 frames. Some of the students within our art lessons took around 700 frames.

Students used iMovie or iMotion on their ipads to create their Claymation video.

We hope you enjoy!

Take a Look!

Hello!

We are having an absolute blast in the Creative Art room this term. The students have worked really hard to create some stunning master pieces. Our room is full of vibrant colour and feels exciting from the moment you step through the door. We have had a few students bring parents and friends in to show off their art and we welcome anyone who wishes to visit. For those of you who can’t pop in, here are a few of the students’ final pieces which are on display in our room. Stay tuned for our Year 6 Claymation videos!

Creative Arts – Welcome to Term 1

Hello everyone,

It’s been so lovely seeing all the children return from the summer break fresh faced and enthusiastic. Myself (Theresa Sugars) and Lauran Clayton will be teaching Creative Arts. I am here on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Lauran on the Wednesdays so please feel free to knock on the Creative Arts door to say hello.

The school musical is in Term 3 this year and I am very much looking forward to sharing this exciting experience with the children. Last year the whole school community were an incredible support and as a result the concert was an amazing success.

Just a quick update to inform you of our inquiries:

The Foundations and Year 1 classes are inquiring into self-portraits. We getting our hands dirty as we create a masterpiece inspired by Andy Warhol’s Pop Art. You will need extra room on the fridge for this unit, as it jam packed with colourful art activities.

The Year 2’s are inquiring into the elements of music. During this unit the children will do a number of listening and analysis activities designed to help them articulate and understand what they hear in music.

The Year 3’s are exploring the world of zen-tangles and self-portraits. This is an interesting combination enabling the children to express themselves and communicate their personality through their artwork.

The Year 4 classes are investigating portraiture and learning about the transition from reality to abstraction. They are in the process of creating a Cubist style self-portrait inspired by the incredible Picasso.

The year 5’s are also inquiring into the art form of portraiture and are learning about American Pop Artist Roy Lichtenstein. Look out for some vibrant comic style artworks!

The year 6’s are making great use of their iPad as they begin to learn about Clay-mation. This method of film animation enables the students to have creative control of their characters, whilst using stop-motion photography.

We have a fantastic term full of creativity and learning. By the end of the term the school should be flowered with all sorts of weird and wonderful abstract art.

Blessings,

Theresa Sugars & Lauran Clayton
